Rubbing Elbows

Hey! Today was LONG, but I guess the bright side was that it was different than the average work day. Plus I got to be a lot more active and walk around more than usual.

Breakfast this morning was a bagel with cream cheese.

If that seems unhealthy to you, buckle your seat belts – it’s going to be a bumpy ride ;) I had several cups of coffee over the course of the day, which will probably result in me not being able to sleep tonight. Oops.

Me and my coworker split a brownie mid morning. They were at the booth right across from hours and the girl’s manning it kept asking us to take one like every 5 minutes. It was only a matter of time.

The rest of the pics are iPhone pics, so I apologize in advance. This trade show was pretty well set up and I think we made some good contacts. After a lot of schmoozing everyone filed into the keynote luncheon.

We started out with a salad.

I was planning to just make due with the meal and only eat the sides, but it was just a big ‘ol piece of chicken and some undercooked veggies.

The chicken actually looked pretty good, but I decided to go ahead and check to see if there was a vegetarian option. They did, and surprise, it was pasta.

This was actually incredible. I had tortellini at a fancy restaurant a couple days ago and it was terrible, but this was delicious. I was glad I asked for the veg plate.

But the food didn’t stop there my friends. I did balance it out by drinking several glasses of water over the course of they day.

At 4 p.m. there was an Exhibitor’s Reception with snacks and cocktails. I was going to skip it, but they had fruit! I had a small plate.

I had fruit, two cheese cubes and a piece of bruschetta. One of the older gentleman at the booth next door bought me a glass of wine.

I politely drank about 1/3 of the glass while we discussed college football. I can never pass up free wine or football banter.

When I got the cue that it was okay to go I was out like a flash! Overall it was an okay day, but there’s only so much rubbing elbows a gal can take in one day.

I have a lot to accomplish tonight! Gotta catch up on my reader, work out, and clean the apartment. I better hop to it!

Have a good night!

  3. Every now and again it is fun to mix up the routine AND the eats.

Everything you ate looks delicious. And it isn’t like you eat like this everyday, so its all gravy :) The brownie looks so fudgy, num!

  8. Haha, I would say you still ate way better than a normal college kid. During long days like this…bagels and wine are the best! Oh, and so is a bit of brownie! ;-)

I always find that when out at events, going with the vegetarian dish is always must better, cause the chicken that they offer is always just so blah, but you can never go wrong with a red sauce and noodles! glad you had a good day! :)

  12. Ugh networking is exhausting! You have to be super upbeat and incredibly interested in what everyone has to say for hours. You probably needed that glass of wine…and the silver fox to buy it for you ;)

  13. I agree with everyone–networking and small talk is so mentally exhausting.

Sounds like it wasnt too bad of a day though! so the football talk—hopefully it had to do with how wonderful our sooners are, how much OSU is a wannabe, and how Texas sucks? :)

  14. Hi Low! Don’t ya just love manning the booth at trade shows! I’ve actually only done it once – I’m usually on the other end as the person putting on the show. But, I do know that exhibitors work long hours, and eat lousy food – most of the time, and have to do this all with a smiling face. Glad to see the show had an exhibitor reception for you.
